Jennifer Hosea is the owner of Creative Play Solutions, LLC. She has a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling (1996) from the State University of West Georgia. She has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2000. She is also a Registered Play Therapist – Supervisor. She has provided counseling to children and adolescents since 1996. Her work experience includes: private practice, community mental health, schools, juvenile probation, and inpatient care. She has received specialized training in play therapy, Sandtray/Worldplay therapy, and trauma therapy for children and adolescents.
Currently, Jennifer provides counseling to children, adolescents, their families, and parents. She has a special interest in treating trauma (abuse, neglect, loss, domestic violence, accidents, chronic medical issues, or other events). She also works with families with adoption and attachment issues. In addition, she routinely sees children and adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, adjustments to life changes, divorce, anger management, behavioral problems, and ADHD. Periodically, she offers filial training workshops for parents. This training teaches parents how to use child-centered play therapy techniques at home.
Jennifer Cooper is a Counseling Intern at Creative Play Solutions. She has completed the majority of her coursework towards earning her Masters of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University. Jennifer has a background in education and child development and has experience working with youth of all ages. Jennifer discovered a long time ago that she had a gift for genuine empathy, active listening, and a passion for empowering others to reach peace and happiness in there own lives. She believes in providing a supportive, non-judgmental, compassionate environment in order to best support her clients. She believes that we all have the potential, and often desire within us for contentment and growth despite our age. Children are often the most driven of us all!
Jennifer is able to work with children, adolescents, young adults, and families address a broad range of concerns including anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, family changes, relationship struggles, trauma/abuse, behavioral issues in children/adolescents, and parenting issues. She believes that all behavior is purposeful and by understanding the driving force of undesired behaviors, we can work as a team to look at alternative ways in which to meet those needs. She utilizes an eclectic approach including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Play Therapy with her clients depending on ones individual needs and developmental level. Jennifer has had specialized training in Play Therapy techniques such as Child Centered Play Therapy, Sand Tray, and Art Therapy. She also has had training in Trauma- Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Progressive Counting in order to best serve those who have experienced trauma and struggle with the effects of this.
Lastly, Jennifer is a part of the military community with a husband who serves on active duty for the Georgia Army National Guard. She has been through an eighteen month long deployment with young children and has been through several separations due to military travel. She is able to understand the unique needs of the military child, adult, and family in the counseling environment.
